Mike Myers is set to play Austin Powers again, as Austin Powers 4 finally looks set to head towards the screen. More here.
Every since he walked off the screen as Austin Powers for the last time in 2002’s Austin Powers In Goldmember, Mike Myers has been fielding questions about a possible Austin Powers 4. Myers has taken on very, very few big screen roles in the last 20 years, but occasional rumblings have popped up about a new Austin Power adventure. Turns out, it might actually be happening.
Over at World Of Reel, it’s reporting that Austin Powers 4 has been developed in secret for at least the last year. The first three films were released by New Line Cinema, which has been entirely swallowed up by Warner Bros now. Warner Bros will this be backing the new film.
Jay Roach, the director of the original trilogy, is said to be back on board.

Burt Bacharach, the singer, songwriter and composer of hundreds of beloved pop hits, has died. He was 94.
Burt Bacharach won three Academy Awards throughout his extensive career, two for 1969’s Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid–Best Original Score and Best Original Song–and his last for 1981’s Arthur, also Best Original Song. Both winning songs–“Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head” (performed by B.J. Thomas) and “Arthur’s Theme (Best That You Can Do)” (performed by Christopher Cross), were named by the American Film Institute as two of the greatest movie songs in history, placing #23 and #79, respectively.
In addition to those wins, Burt Bacharach received Oscar nominations for numbers written for What’s New, Pussycat? (1966), Alfie (1966) and Casino Royale (1967), although his contribution here is of course typically shunned from the Bond canon. He also received seven Golden Globe nominations over the course of his career, in addition to numerous Grammys,...

Can you believe it’s been 18 years since the last Austin Powers movie? Star Mike Myers is notorious for being selective with his roles, which makes sense considering he’s only starred in a few projects since Austin Powers in Goldmember and hasn’t kept a very high profile in recent years.
He’s popped up in a number of movies in supporting roles, true, but they’ve curiously always been as characters in heavy prosthetics. Whether it’s Inglorious Basterds, Bohemian Rhapsody or Terminal, you never quite know he’s in a film until the credits start rolling. Perhaps it’s a stipulation in his contract that he always be partially in disguise. Like it’s a gimmick or something?
In any case, none of this has stopped speculation as to whether we’ll ever get an Austin Powers 4. Each movie in the series made more money than...

Though Mike Myers’ star isn’t what it once was, you probably still remember back to when the Austin Powers movies were a cultural sensation. For a long time, conversations everywhere were full of catchphrases, in-jokes, and bad impressions inspired by the spy spoof films. Until everyone kind of got over them. It’d be fair to say that the series was a bit of a fad and only held its popularity for a limited time, but if an Austin Powers 4 ever did materialize, there’s no doubt it’d bring in a pretty sizable audience based on nostalgia appeal alone.
In fact, we’ve been hearing whispers of a potential fourth outing for several years now, with almost no tangible signs of progress, but at the very least, it seems Jay Roach is still on board. The director of the first – and only – three films in the franchise spoke...

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of “Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me,” director Jay Roach sat down with The Independent for an interview reflecting on the unexpected success of the Mike Myers-led spy comedy franchise. Roach has been behind the camera for all three “Austin Powers” films and says he remains open to directing a fourth film. The last “Austin Powers” movie, “Goldmember,” opened in July 2002 and grossed just under $300 million worldwide.
“We’ve been trying to think up an idea that could earn a fourth film for a long time, but it’s always up to Mike,” Roach said. “He and I always thought there was more to do with Dr. Evil.”
The major obstacle facing a potential “Austin Powers 4” is the loss of supporting actor Verne Troyer. The performer became a face of the “Austin Powers” franchise as the character Mini-Me, debuting in “The Spy...

It sounds like there’s a chance we might actually see Austin Powers 4 get made. Mike Myers has been wanting to do a fourth Austin Powers movie for a few years now and it looks like he’s been making some headway on it.
During a recent interview with Access, Myers says that he and director Jay Roach are taking their time with making it happen but that it’s “looking good”:
"I've had three kids under the age of seven. They take a long time to write, they always have. Jay's been super crazy. He is doing a fantastic movie right now that he's working on right now. It's looking good, so we'll see."
Maybe when Roach is done with his current project the two will really dive into the project and start getting serious about development. Myers seems optimistic about it. When previously talking about the movie,...

Though Michael Myers’ star has faded in this last decade, you may still remember a time where the Austin Powers movies were a cultural sensation. For many years, the conversations of playgrounds and office spaces across the world were filled with catchphrases, in-jokes, and bad impressions inspired by the spy spoof series until we all decided to give it a rest and start quoting Borat instead. To some extent, you could certainly argue that these movies were a fad for a specific time, but if an Austin Powers 4 ever did come our way, you can bet that it would attract a fair amount of attention on nostalgia appeal alone.

I really enjoyed the Austin Powers films that Mike Meyers made. They always managed to make me laugh. There's been talk of another sequel in the past. Mike Meyers even signed up for it back in 2011, but we have yet to see any kind of movement on it. If an Austin Powers 4 film does eventually get made though, Mike Meyers knows the direction that he'd like to take it.
While talking to Entertainment Tonight, Meyers revealed that he would want the story to focus on Dr. Evil and be told from the villain's point of view.
"I would love to do a movie from Dr. Evil's perspective. So it would be Dr. Evil 1, Austin Powers 4, is how I would roll. Start the campaign, please. Thank you."
I'd be up for that! The fans love Dr. Evil so the fact that the next film could focus on that character would be great.

The first two Austin Powers films are pretty spectacular 007 parodies, setting the bar for a lot of comedies in the late '90s. Even with Wayne's World (just forget about Love Guru), these films have been the defining projects of Mike Myers' career, with many classic jokes living on in daily conversation two decades later.
The third film, Austin Powers in Goldmember, which I felt was the least successful and most repetitive, did leave the plot at an odd point, with Austin Powers and Dr. Evil joining forces as brothers, leaving Scott Evil (Seth Green) to carry on his father's legacy. There hasn't been an Austin Powers film in fifteen years, so is the franchise dead and buried? Or just frozen in cyrosleep until the hero is needed again?

Yeah, baby! Can you believe that Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery turns 20 years old this year. The comedy, which was the brainchild of star Mike Myers, has enjoyed a long-standing place in many homes across the world and is widely regarded as one of the great parody comedies of all time.
When it was first released the film wasn’t a huge smash-hit at the box office, grossing around $67million across the globe. But when it was released on VHS and DVD the film became massively successful and helped lead to its two sequels: The Spy Who Shagged Me, released in 1999, grossed $358.2million worldwide; while it’s follow-up, Goldmember, grossed $324million.
Many had hoped to see a fourth film in the series but thus far it hasn’t yet come to fruition. But speaking to The Hollywood Reporter to mark the anniversary of the first film,...

We get very few movies from Mike Myers, who in the 1990s and 2000s sprung to the top of Hollywood off the back of the Wayne’s World, Shrek and particular the Austin Powers films. Even the not very good The Cat In The Hat crossed $100m at the Us box office, helped by Myers’ star power.
Myers has been less active on the big screen in recent times, though. His last live action film project was the 2013 documentary Supermensch, that he directed. But it seems now that he’s considering again a fourth Austin Powers movie, something that’s been rumoured on and off since the last film, Goldmember.

It’s a bit of a mystery (pun intended) as to why we haven’t seen Austin Powers 4 yet. Admittedly, Mike Myers is far from the bona fide box office star he was back in the late 80s and into the 90s, but all three films in the series did quite well upon release, pleasing audiences and turning a pretty decent profit for the studio. Still, a fourth instalment has never come to fruition and though it is getting to be a bit too late for it to happen now, Myers is still interested.
The last outing for the franchise, Austin Powers in Goldmember, debuted back in 2002, but as Myers tells The Hollywood Reporter, he’s still up for another one.
“I would love to do another, but you just have to see. I was devastated by my father’s death. But to have that turn into something that...

It’s been a very long time since Austin Powers last graced the silver screen. In fact, it’s a bit odd that we haven’t seen more of the International Man of Mystery in recent years, seeing as all three films revolving around the spy made decent money at the box office and have generally gone over well with fans. There have been talks of a fourth instalment for a while now, but nothing’s ever materialized. However, that doesn’t mean we should write it off just yet.
Talking on Larry King Now, director Jay Roach, who helmed all three entries, said that he’s still speaking about the possibility of another Austin Powers movie with franchise star Mike Myers:
You know, Mike Myers and I talk about it every time we get together. I would say it’s in a latent phase right now, but someday...

Sequels are awesome, plain and simple. Returning to familiar characters and worlds we love is like covering yourself with a warm blanket, although when a sequel is bad it can be like a blanket covered in potato bugs and lice. Studios love sequels because seven times out of ten they open huge, no matter how good they are.

In a world full of incredibly unnecessary sequels to delightful original films of the 80s and 90s, why not one more completely, embarassingly unnecessary sequel? And why not have it be by a once-funny comedian who has not made a decent film this millennium?

I think the phrase you’re looking for is ‘Wtf?’ Or perhaps: ‘Please God, don’t let it be so.’ But definitely not ‘Excellent.’

Even though this video might be a little bit poor timing when Myers' character -- an old white man -- looks like a caricature of the typical Oscar voter based on recent reports, we think this might be the funniest that Myers has been in years, and the "Wayne's World" star may even have more life left in him as an aging comedy chameleon. Can't wait for the inevitable "Austin Powers 4"? Oscar's latest attempt at humor -- starring Mike Myers and Kevin Kline -- may be enough to tide you over. Fair warning: Only die hard Myers fans need apply. In a move that appears to be intended to make the Oscars look a bit more "fun," the Academy has enlisted the help of Myers and Funny or Die to create this "Oscar Etiquette" video, as seen on the Oscar site. It's an amusing premise that, for some reason, runs for nearly five insufferable minutes. Oscar winner Kline is accused of mishandling his "A Fish Called...

There haven't been any real updates on that fourth Austin Powers film since we heard over the summer that Mike Myers and New Line were still ironing out the details [2], but it seems you'll be seeing more of the International Man of Mystery in one form or another. Myers is now set to write the story for a stage musical based on the character, with Tony Award-winning The Book of Mormon co-director Casey Nicholaw in talks to direct. The new play will serve as a prequel to the movies, and will not star Myers. More details after the jump. According to sources who spoke with The Hollywood Reporter [3], the Austin Powers musical "will be set in 1960s London and detail how Powers first acquired his mighty mojo." Colin Callender and Sonia Friedman will produce the play, which will feature the music of Burt Bacharach and Elvis Costello. Myers is reportedly...

While there's still some question as to whether or not an Austin Powers 4 will ultimately get made, groovy pastiche originator Mike Myers is meanwhile turning his attention to the musical stage. According to THR, Casey Nicholaw - director of the hit musical "The Book of Mormon" from South Park guys Matt Stone and Trey Parker - is currently in talks to direct an "Austin Powers" musical to be written by Mike Myers and that will act as a prequel to the three existing...

Canuck comedian Mike Myers closed the door on his tenure as the lovable green ogre in the Shrek franchise with the recent Shrek Forever After being billed as the last film. Myers quickly dusted off another popular character, the swinging sixties British spy Austin Powers. Page Six reported today that Myers made a commitment to develop and write a Broadway musical based on the first Austin Powers movie. It was Myers’ second shot at reviving Austin Powers in the last six months. Last summer, Myers announced plans to partner with director Jay Roach on Austin Powers 4, a return to the big screen as the bumbling spy for the first time in nine years, since his '70s-set action comedy Austin Powers in Goldmember co-starring Beyoncé Knowles.

Who could forget "Austin Powers?" Such a great movie. I always loved the ending too, where Dr. Evil's henchman, Random Task, surprises super-spy Austin Powers and his new wife Vanessa in their honeymoon suite for one last big fight. Here is that scene:
Random Task was played by Joe Son, a South Korean actor, wrestler, and mixed martial artist. But if he looks like a bad dude in the movie, that's nothing compared to what he's been up to off screen. Back in September, Son was convicted of one felony count of torture and sentenced to life in prison for his role in the rape and kidnapping of a young woman on Christmas Eve in 1990. If you'd like to be incapable of ever watching "Austin Powers" again without feeling icky and uncomfortable, you can read the official Orange County press release about Son's conviction, which lays out his crimes in repulsive detail.

We refuse to make the obvious “Yeah, baby!” joke that we are required, practically by law, to insert at the beginning of this post. Wait one minute…we accidentally made it anyway! Damn you, Powers! You’ve bested us again! People confirms that Kelly Tisdale and Mike Myers’s son Spike arrived two weeks ago, which means baby Spike probably already knows that Wayne’s World II just doesn’t measure up. “He is healthy and his parents are ecstatic,” the SNL alum’s rep says of Myers’ Mini-Me. On the other hand…Mike and Spike Myers? This is Real Life, not Austin Powers 4. Seriously, you are naming an infant, Mike, not the sidekick to an obese Scottish super villain.

There's still no deal for a fourth "Austin Powers" movie, although actor-writer-producer Mike Myers and New Line Cinema are "in talks," Myers' publicist has re-confirmed to TheWrap. Though website HitFix wrote on Friday that a deal was done -- a report numerous other sites picked up on Saturday -- TheWrap reported that while a deal was "close," nothing yet had been signed. "They are in talks," Ina Treciokas said late Monday in an email to TheWrap. Also read: Mike Myers, New Line Close to 'Austin Powers 4' Deal And a movie without Myers is...

Mike Myers is expected to sign a deal soon that could mean a fourth Austin Powers movie. The Canadian comedian will write, produce, and star in the sequel, if he agrees to the studio’s terms.
HitFix reported Myers has already closed the deal, while the Hollywood Reporter says he is still mulling the opportunity. In fact, the offer from Warner Bros is nearly six months old, and execs were surprised to hear from Myers’ representation, according to Deadline’s Mike Fleming. But discussions are at least underway for a fourth installment centered on the saucy secret agent, nine years after 2002’s Goldmember, unless Myers walks again. In 1999, the actor — described as “mercurial” by Fleming — famously pulled the plug on Sprockets, a comedy based on an eccentric character named Dieter from his days on “Saturday Night Live,” because he was dissatisfied with his own script.

News of several new projects broke over the weekend. The question is, from Austin Powers 4 and Rise of the Planet of the Apes sequels to One Shot and Just Kids, which projects do we actually want to see? - Austin Powers fans, the wait is over. The fourth installment of the stagadelic franchise is happening, complete with star Mike Myers. This is career-reviving news for Myers, whose only notable live-action work since 2002's Goldmember was a too-brief role as General Ed Fenech in Inglorious Basterds. Voicing the Shrek franchise has no doubt kept the dollars coming, but Austin Powers 4 will reunite a face (and a British accent) back to his voice. Austin Powers is not everyone's cup of tea, but the first three ...

Contrary to previous reports, it would appear that Mike Myers hasn’t officially signed on for Austin Powers 4 just yet. Following earlier news that Austin Powers 4 was definitely in the pipeline, Deadline are reporting that the recent news has come as something of a surprise for a skeptical New Line. Myers has apparently only just responded to an Austin Powers offer that the company made to him almost a year ago, but so far he has only expressed interest and negotiations are still underway. In 2008, it was proposed that Austin 4 would...

I truly love talking to directors because they give tremendous insights to their films. In "Dinner for Schmucks," Jay Roach, the guy who gave us "Meet the Parents" and "Meet the Fockers," as well as all the "Austin Powers" films, talked about:
*** The conception of the film from its French roots (Francis Veber's "Les diner de cons") to the American version
*** Why Roach decided to add the mythological "dinner" that wasn't shown in the French version
*** Working with Steve Carell and Paul Rudd
*** The film subscribes to the "tragedy as comedy" notion
*** How the film follows French farce conventions such as mistaken identity, comedy of errors, non-verbal jokes
*** "Austin Powers 4" anyone?
*** If he's invited to a dinner for schmucks, what idiosyncrasy will be bring to the table?

Rourke as Genghis Khan?: Mickey Rourke has said he will be starring as Genghis Khan in a story about the Mongolian ruler written and to be directed by John Milius (Conan the Barbarian). Rourke says, "I read his script and you know, the man is known for his tough writing. He wrote Conan and Dirty Harry and Apocalypse Now, and it'll be interesting to see how he works behind the camera." He added, "John wrote a piece told from the son and grandson's point of view, how they saw this mythic figure from their family. You see him in flashbacks, back when he was in his mid-40s. And back then, being in your mid-40s was being Really old." The film may be looking to shoot in India and China. Most recently, the story of Genghis Khan was depicted in the Oscar-nominated film Mongol. [Orlando Sentinel via The Wrap]

Like the once-frozen body of its shag-happy hero, "Austin Powers 4" has been in stasis for a while. Word of a fourth installment of the $473 million-grossing franchise first popped up (like machine gun jubblies, you might say) in May of 2007, when Mike Myers told MTV News that he'd started writing a script.
That was at the time "Shrek the Third" hit theaters. Three years later, as a new "Shrek" opened the Tribeca Film Festival on Wednesday (April 21), there's still been no concrete movement on "Austin Powers 4." So what's the hold up? Scheduling, Myers told us at the "Shrek" premiere.
"Things are on track," he said. "It's hard to keep a Stanley Cup team together and I'm very happy how insanely well it's gone. Then it gets hard to get everybody all together."
Schedules may be partly to blame, but it's also unclear at this point if a finished script is in place.

Mike Myers talked about making another Austin Powers movie after The Love Guru was revealed to be one of the worst movies ever made, but we haven.t heard anything about it in a couple of years. It seems it.s still happening. Powers director Jay Roach offered an update on Austin Powers 4 to MTV and says Mike is .working on ideas for it, people are definitely talking about it and I'm all good for it.. One problem: Anyone who saw Love Guru and Austin Powers 3 knows that Mike Myers is as out of jokes as the Austin Powers franchise is out of gas. Ron Livingston is the beating heart of Mike Judge’s Office Space, a movie that has transcended cult status and is pretty much one of the finest comedies to be released in the 1990s. He’s also pretty notable for the role of Captain Lewis Nixon in Band of Brothers on HBO.
Now, he’ll be joining director Jay Roach (Austin Powers, Meet the Parents) for his new film Dinner for Schmucks.
According to Variety, the film “is an adaptation of the Francis Veber-helmed French film Le dinner de cons, in which a group of bourgeois friends regularly invite the biggest schmucks to dinner to ridicule them.”
The cast that’s shaping up for this film is phenomenal. It’ll be headed up by I Love You, Man’s Paul Rudd and The Office’s Steve Carell, who of course acted together in The 40-Year-Old-Virgin. They’ll be joined...
