My daughter had lived in this area for a year, and I never knew any of these places existed. I loved the personal stories and strong community and family ties. Great conversations about important topics again also. Well done.

Needed to be longer!

This is one of my favorite episodes so far. There just seemed to be something that clicked here. This episode contains a quick glimpse in Misha's college life at the University of Chicago. The food that they look at in the episode comes from the same neighborhood that Misha came to years ago, and that's a nice touch.
Now I Know Where To Get Good BBQ

From listening to some really great jazz music to meeting more fun, interesting people, this is another great episode. I never realized how much thought and care goes into something like BBQ, but host Misha Collins introduces us to people who really care about the food they make.
More importantly, he shows us once again that there are so many ways we can connect with one another.

A real taste of Chicago

I've spent a lot of time in Chicago but didn't realize all the things I was missing. This show's ability to find the little places with the great stories is worth the watch. People open up to the host and you can tell he genuinely cares. It's got heart.
Honest and Hopeful Take on Chicago

I live in Chicago, and have always been told to stay away from the South Side. The crime stats and shootings are no joke. It was so GOOD to see a different perspective--one that didn't ignore the problems, but acknowledged them and offered some hope for the future. Thank you for making my home look beautiful without whitewashing it.
And man that BBQ looks AWESOME.

One of the best episodes

This one is sure my favorite until now! It really made me wish to visit those places and restaurants and more, talk with all those amazing people interviewed. Misha is great showing all those places and a little bit of his college life and as alwyas, the food is just the start, while the focus are the families, communities, their cultures, struggles and stories!
Messy BBQ is the best BBQ

Chicago isn't high on my list of must-go places in the USA but because of this episode, it just went way up. I'll probably eat my way through all these BBQ places once travel isn't so difficult anymore.
The conversations with the African-American locals were so illuminating and sobering, and it all gets topped off with good music. Perfect.

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was so good! I've visited Chicago many times but I never had an opportunity to explore the South Side and subsequently was deprived of terrific barbecue. Misha Collins stories of his time there were touching. I found myself getting very nostalgic.
I really appreciated the exploration of the local culture and the dive into jazz. They young musicians were so inspiring! Can't wait for more episodes.
