The genre of science fiction is the one that deals with imaginative concepts of science and technology, trying to predict the future or to speculate of parallel universes. However, sometimes a movie pretending to stick to the real-life laws of science turns out to be among the least scientifically accurate ones.
Here are 5 sci-fi films with zero science factor, handpicked by Redditors.
Lucy (2014)
“Everyone knows the 10% of brain 'fact' is completely bogus, but they built an entire movie around it anyway,” admits Redditor @lostonpolk.
Indeed, the whole concept of Luc Besson’s movie assuming that people only use about 10% of their total brainpower is a total myth. In fact, we use different parts of our brain for different tasks, and we don’t need a special drug to unlock increased intellectual capacity.

[Warning: The following story contains spoilers about Season 1 of “Fallout.”]
When viewers first meet Lucy (Ella Purnell) in the “Fallout” series premiere, the Vault 33 dweller is applying for an arranged marriage. She is kind, sweet, charming, optimistic, a Golden Rule abider — and quite naive. Vault life is all she knows, and all she’s been told is that it is every vault dweller’s duty to get married and procreate.
“It’s this Vault-Tec propaganda of, ‘One day, we are gonna rebuild America.’ It’s more cult-y than that,” Purnell tells Gold Derby (watch the exclusive video interview above). “I do think you do see moments with Lucy maybe doubting that in the first episode. It’s something me and [executive producer and director] Jonah [Nolan] talked about a lot, and it was really important to him and to me as well that we mapped in those little moments of fear before she gets married and then certainly moments after she gets married … where...

General Hospital spoilers and updates tease brace yourself for some exciting twists in Sam McCall’s (Kelly Monaco) and Jason Morgan’s (Steve Burton) story!
The sparks have been flying between Jason and Sam ever since his return, but don’t be fooled; beneath all the tension, there’s a deep-rooted love that Sam can’t deny.
General Hospital Spoilers – ‘Jasam’ Redux Times Two?
With a wealth of insider information and hints dropped during the show, it’s clear that Jason and Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) are strictly friends.
The writers don’t appear keen on exploring a romantic relationship between Carly and Jason for now, so it looks like ‘Jarly’ is staying in the friend zone.
This could mean that Jason and Sam are more likely to find their way back to each other in the future-in fact, it’s possible they’re already headed towards a reunion.

10. Remember Me (2010)
Robert Pattinson’s Remember Me remains a serious romance drama for the vast majority of its duration. The end. Seriously?
9. Lucy (2014)
Scarlett Johansson's Lucy explores the classic “people are only using 10% of their brains” scenario. Thanks to the experimental drug, a drug mule gains access to many skills and knowledge… Fast-forward: she evaporates, meets the first human, sees the Big Bang, and stores All Knowledge Ever on a bloody Usb, of all things.
8. The Happening (2008)
Mark Wahlberg’s The Happening has an interesting approach to the apocalypse: all over the world, people start killing themselves. The situation looks serious, more and more people die by their own hands… As it turns out,...

In 1990, Luc Besson's famous action film Nikita hit theaters. The movie about a street criminal turned secret agent was a huge success in France and around the world.
There is an opinion that the director has been doing nothing but making different versions of Nikita all his life, distracted from time to time by purely commercial projects.
The central character of his universe is a female fighter, a cold-blooded killer with a tragic personal history. Viewers saw a similar type in Leon: The Professional, The Fifth Element, Lucy with Scarlett Johansson in the main role, and Anna – another spy drama that recently got a second life thanks to its popularity on Netflix.
However, when talking about Nikita and its imitators, many forget about the cult series that debuted in 1997 and ran for five seasons – La Femme Nikita. And just recently, Redditors remembered the best spy show of the 1990s.

Prime Video’s Fallout TV show follows four main characters, but it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that fans are mostly focused on two.
The Ghoul’s enigmatic nature expectedly draws attention of both fictional characters and viewers, and Lucy’s oh-so-familiar journey from the safety of the Vault into the unforgiving Wastelands captivates the audiences new and old alike.
Warning: This article contains major spoilers for Fallout.
Lucy’s Season 1 Finale Was Overwhelming
Throughout Fallout Season 1, we as the audience got to know and love Lucy for her optimism, her ability to put one foot ahead of the other no matter the circumstances. She was a fighter and a beam of light in the otherwise hopeless Wasteland, someone who could never give up, break down, and abandon her vision of herself.
Lucy’s finale was quite the opposite: it brutally destroyed and reinvented her.

Ella Purnell continues her stellar history of video game adaptations with Fallout. The actress, 27, has successfully ventured into the video game industry with Netflix’s Arcane, an animated series based on League of Legends, after previously finding success with Home for Peculiar Children, Army of the Dead, and Yellowjackets.
The English actor does, however, display a more upbeat side as Lucy in the latest drama series, Fallout. During the first season’s eight-episode series, viewers will witness Lucy’s development from an eternally upbeat vault dweller with an all-American gumption to a more seasoned survivor who can handle the dangers and quirks of the wasteland.
Ella Purnell in a still from Fallout
Purnell recently revealed that she was instantly drawn to the project when the show’s executive producers described her character as someone who could star in a “toothpaste commercial” but could also “kill you”.

In a world where projects based on video games are treated with scrutiny and often discarded by fans as garbage, Fallout has been faring well. Being hailed as one of the best video game adaptations of all time, the Prime Video series is decent enough and does justice to the source material.
Fallout
Not only does it maintain the aesthetics of the game, but its world-building and extra elements only add to the viewer’s experience. Yet it is also its amazing cast that allows the series to be as unhinged as it is. Although there hasn’t been an official announcement, fans can hardly wait for Fallout season 2, and Jonathan Nolan might have just found the perfect actor to potentially cast in the next season.

Scarlett Johansson is one of the most successful Hollywood actors out there. That is to be expected from a star who has acted in a plethora of famous works, including the likes of Avengers, Lucy, Her, and Lost in Translation, amongst other famous works. But that doesn’t mean that she has not faced the odd setback. Even she has had to face numerous rejections time and again, including losing out on a role to Lindsay Lohan.
Scarlett Johansson did not have it easy
Scarlett Johansson was turned down for many roles in her early days
Before Scarlett Johansson made it big as a Hollywood star, she had her fair share of struggles in the industry. It must be difficult for fans to believe that the Marriage Story star found it difficult to catch her big break very early.

Scarlett Johansson is undoubtedly one of the most well-known actresses in the world right now, who has made a name for herself in numerous roles, especially as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, it appears the likely reason for her to join Jurassic World 4 is quite depressing.

Scarlett Johansson’s portrayal of Black Widow in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies began with 2010’s Iron Man 2, where she stole the spotlight with her introductory action sequences. Since then, she has always held a commanding presence in all of her scenes in major MCU movies.

Alongside all the mutant mayhem, the terrifying monster brawls, and the ‘just one more hour’ gameplay, the :a[Fallout games]{href='https://www.empireonline.com/gaming/reviews/fallout-4-review/' target='blank' rel='noreferrer noopener'} have always come with a hefty dollop of satire – whether it’s the winking aesthetic steeped in ’50s Americana, or the pointed notion of what exactly goes down inside Vault-Tec’s underground shelters. And while the upcoming :a[_Fallout streaming series]{href='https://www.empireonline.com/tv/news/fallout-series-teasers-promises-monsters-mutants-and-mouldy-coffee/' target='_blank' rel='noreferrer noopener'} – created by Graham Wagner and Geneva Robertson-Dworet, with extra producing power from Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy – isn’t necessarily going to be a straight adaptation of the games (choose-your-own-path RPGs aren’t necessarily built for that), it’s going to retain not just the monsters and the mutations, but that streak of dark humour too.

When Scarlett Johansson & Chris Hemsworth Opened Up About Their Uncomfortable Superhero Costumes On The Avengers(Photo Credit –IMDb)
The Avengers stars Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, and Tom Hiddleston once shared their uncomfortable experiences of donning their costumes. Scarlett, Chris, and Tom play the roles of Black Widow, Thor Odinson, and Loki, respectively. The actress revealed the situation was so bad that she hallucinated during a fight scene. Johansson, however, admitted that Hiddleston’s case was probably the worst among them.
The film came out in 2012, and it changed the experience of comic book lovers forever. Directed by Josh Whedon at that time, no one could have imagined a crossover film like that with so many stars, and it was executed so well. The audience learned about Thanos and how he helped Loki with the Chitauri invasion to get the Space Stone, aka the Tesseract. Tom’s character became one of the most loved antagonists,...

Actress Scarlett Johansson’s return as Black Widow in the MCU is a rather curious topic. Given the MCU’s history of bringing the characters back from the dead, the possibility of reviving the spy-assassin has been frequently discussed due to her massive popularity, and Johansson says that it would be a “real marvel” if Marvel could actually pull it off.
In a recent appearance on the ‘Today’ show to promote her skincare line, Johansson addressed speculation of her return as redhead assassin. Coyly replying to the question, she said: “Like a loophole? I feel like that’s kind of the end, right? Like can you come back? Could it be a vampire version of the character? Cause I’m here for that, like a zombie version, maybe.”
Pressing his question, the show’s host Al Rocker asked whether the ‘Lucy’ actress was approached to reprise her role. To this...

Elton John‘s “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” features a baffling reggae breakdown. John Lennon added that section to “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” himself. In an interview, the former Beatle discussed why he worked with the “Your Song” singer. Shockingly, the aforementioned cover of “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” was a much bigger hit than The Beatles’ version.
Why John Lennon played on Elton John’s cover of ‘Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds’
“Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” is many things, but it doesn’t have much of a Caribbean vibe. That’s why adding a reggae section to the track feels so incongruous. It’s even stranger when you learn it was the “Imagine” singer’s idea.
During a 1975 interview with Rolling Stone, John discussed his work on the cover of “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. “I heard he was doing ‘Lucy...

Out of this hell, he grows to discover love, theatre, and cabaret, but also the injustice and disillusionment of the human world. This article contains spoilers for "The Nun 2."
For the most part, the stories in The Conjuring Universe are remembered as ghosts and hauntings, despite the fact that demons and possessions are very much embedded in the DNA of "The Conjuring," "Annabelle," and "The Nun" films. Ghosts are typically waved away as being "not real" and the demon Valak of "The Nun" series is based on Valac, a demon described in the anonymous book on sorcery, "The Lesser Key of Solomon." Malthus, the demon responsible for the cursed Annabelle doll is based on Halphas, also depicted in "The Lesser Key of Solomon" as well as in Johann Weyer's "Pseudomonarchia Daemonum," which identifies 69 (nice) demons and how to conjure them.
This is the same guide that named King Paimon of "Hereditary" fame, as well as Raum in "League of Legends." Valak is also present, but as "President Volac," which might as...

“Dogman” director Luc Besson might be a newcomer to Venice, but following his film’s warm reception on Thursday, he’s likely to come back.
Though Besson’s Golden Lion contender polarized critics, with Variety’s Jessica Kiang sparing few words by calling it a “numbskulled nonsense movie,” audience members at the film’s gala premiere opted to spread the love at its world premiere, showering the film and filmmakers with six minutes of sustained applause. That tied the six-minute ovation Venice audiences gave Michael Mann’s “Ferrari” earlier in the evening on the second night of the prestigious festival.
If Besson offered no closing thoughts, the director nevertheless appeared visibly moved, beaming under the spotlight and embracing his cast with bear hugs. Besson shared a particularly tender moment with star Caleb Landry Jones, with whom he developed and honed the central role over the course of a full year before the cameras ever rolled.

Luc Besson, the onetime A-list director who rose to the top of the box office with his kinetic action films, had his career derailed by rape allegations leveled against him in 2018 by Sand Van Roy, an actress on his film “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.” The ensuing legal battle consumed five years of Besson’s life, but after being cleared last June of all charges by the Cour de Cassation, the French equivalent to the Supreme Court, he’s re-emerging at this year’s Venice Film Festival with the indie drama “Dogman.”
But will the industry work with Besson? That’s one of the questions that we discuss during a lengthy interview at the Plaza Athénée Hotel in Paris on the eve of his big premiere. Besson is evasive about the matter, preferring to talk up his latest effort, the story of a bruised man who faces...

Lucille Ball of "I Love Lucy" fame was a groundbreaking comedy genius, paved the way for "Star Trek" to become a cultural phenomenon with her production company, and has been the subject of numerous documentaries and biopics over the years. Some of the most iconic moments in "I Love Lucy" history have been parodied across film and television, and her presence has permeated the culture with such vigor that even younger generations who have yet to watch a single episode of the show are at least tangentially familiar with moments in episodes like "Lucy and the Chocolate Factory" or her hilarious whine. One of Ball's most influential moments came in the now-classic 1956 episode "Lucy's Italian Movie," which features a simulated fight in a vat of grapes (to make wine) with Italian actress, Teresa Tirelli ... or was it?

The Beatles‘ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band changed the history of science when it inspired the name of a famous fossil. A scientist explained why the Fab Four inspired the moniker. In addition, he said using a name from a Beatles song made the fossil iconic.
A song from The Beatles’ ‘Sgt. Pepper’ played during an important expedition
In 1974, paleoanthropologist Donald Johanson discovered the skeleton of a prehistoric ape-like creature of the species Australopithecus afarensis. The female skeleton garnered the name “Lucy.” During a 2014 interview with Scientific American, Johanson discussed why Lucy was named after a Beatles song.
“I knew from the beginning that she would be important,” he said. “But in hindsight, she also got the right nickname. A member of the expedition suggested if she was a female, as we suspected, why not call her Lucy, after the Beatles song ‘Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds,...

Lido red carpets may be star-deprived this year, but that didn’t stop the Venice Film Festival from arranging a gorgeous constellation of new movies from supernova directors. (The full lineup is here.)
The SAG-AFTRA strike work stoppage means, of course, that competition directors like Yorgos Lanthimos (“Poor Things”), David Fincher (“The Killer”), Sofia Coppola (“Priscilla”), Ava DuVernay, Saverio Costanzo (“Finalmente L’Alba”), and Michel Franco (“Memory”) will have to do the talking at press conferences and attend step-and-repeats without their actors, if they’re willing. It’s tricky for multihyphenates like Bradley Cooper, who directs and stars as Leonard Bernstein in Netflix’s “Maestro;” IndieWire hears he will sit this festival out.
Among the Venice film stars who will not be waving to the paparazzi from water taxis are Emma Stone, Margaret Qualley, Carey Mulligan, Michael Fassbender, Tilda Swinton, Adam Driver, Penelope Cruz, Jacob Elordi, Aunjanue Ellis, Lily James, Joe Keery,...

New films by top U.S. directors including David Fincher, Sofia Coppola, Ava DuVernay, Michael Mann, Bradley Cooper and Wes Anderson will be launching from the Venice Film Festival alongside a robust roster of European, Latin American and Asian auteurs, in a clear sign that disruption caused by two ongoing labor strikes in Hollywood is less than some expected.
Though Venice was forced a few days ago to pull its originally planned opener, Zendaya-starrer “Challengers,” due to promotional complications from the SAG-AFTRA strike, the fest’s complete lineup, announced on Tuesday, has certainly not suffered a mass exodus of Hollywood titles. On the contrary, the Lido’s firepower as an awards season pistol seems to have outgunned the probable scarcity of stars that will be on the red carpet for U.S. films, though even this aspect remains to be seen.

I Love Lucy remains the most iconic television series of all time, and Lucy and Ricky Ricardo are among the most easily recognizable sitcom couple. When the series opened in the 1950s, Lucy and Ricky were already married, just like the actors who played them. Still, Lucy’s past was revisited on occasion. In fact, the feisty redhead’s maiden name was mentioned multiple times in the series. Before marrying Ricky, Lucy Ricardo was known as Lucille Esmerelda McGillicuddy.
When was Lucy Ricardo’s Maiden name mentioned?
Fans first met Lucy as Lucy Ricardo in 1951. By the end of season one, they learned Lucy Ricardo’s maiden name. In the season one episode, aptly named “The Marriage License,” Lucy freaks out when she notices that Ricardo is misspelled as Bacardi. Lucy, fearing the marriage isn’t legal, sets out to rectify the problem. The episode is the first time fans...
