a delicate portrayal
onefineday3622 June 2021
Coming across a convincingly decent short film is rare - just as rare as finding a guy who strikes a good chemistry among the sea of guys on Grindr. Understandably a short film has to work on a tight budget and are often directed, wrote and acted by students or one with less experience; but that doesn't always excuse producing a half baked product - no good amount of naked bodies, cute young actors and flashy sex scenes can make up the lack of truth in the story telling.

This is a rare gem here. Yes, there are 2 cute guys, and yes, they have sex. But it stays calm, real and delicately follows the arch of emotions of the characters, superbly portrayed by the 2 leads. Taking up the Grindr date analogy, it's not a grand romance of destiny nor all flash and bone sexual chemistry; it's rather like meeting somebody you can gently smile to after sex, and propose, "you could stay here the night... if you want to".

I, and hopefully we, need more of these.

simplicity as virtue
Kirpianuscus3 November 2019
Maybe, its simplicity, with nuances of poetry of life represents the lead virtue. Two men, three dates, the image of a volcano. Nothing special if you do not resonate with the story about need of love, about taste of loneliness, about ordinary experiences, about a night and the expected morning and, sure, about a form of delicacy well acted. So, "Herculanum".
