Universal Pictures‘ “Jurassic World Dominion” stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard have launched a competition for young U.K. fans of the dino franchise to design a British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) black card. The black card is the card that has the film’s rating and BBFC approval for cinematic screenings.
“This is your moment to put your mark on a piece of film history 65 million years in the making,” Pratt says in a short video released to accompany the competition launch while Howard suggests: “Get as creative as you want.”
As well as seeing their design on the big screen, the winner will also get a goody bag, a framed copy of the black card and the chance to take three people to a special screening of their film. The winning design will be shown before all screenings of “Jurassic World Dominion” which opens in the U.

David Lynch’s demented crime fantasy Wild At Heart was unleashed upon an unsuspecting nation 30 years ago today. A violent, angry road trip romance, Wild At Heart boasts stars stemming from three cinematic powerhouse families — Nicolas Cage (a Coppola), Laura Dern (daughter to Corman and Dante stalwart Bruce) plus her real-life mother Diane Ladd, and, in a supporting role, Isabella Rossellini (daughter to Golden Age star Ingrid Bergman and the neorealist helmer Roberto Rossellini). Lynch gives his eccentric cast, ranging from generational Hollywood royalty to reliable character actor weirdos Harry Dean Stanton, Willem Dafoe, Crispin Glover and Grace Zabriskie, full license to let their freak flags fly with some truly wild set pieces.
With a script by Lynch adapted from the 1989 novel by Barry Gifford, Wild At Heart tells the tale of young star-crossed North Carolina lovers (and thrash metal connoisseurs) Sailor Ripley (Cage), a noble blue collar troublemaker with an Elvis complex,...

Berlin — Stockholm-based global distributor Eccho Rights has boarded international financial thriller series “Polaris” (formerly known as “Bankster”) from fast-rising Icelandic production outfit Grassriver. The eight-part series, now in development and commissioned by Icelandic public broadcaster RÚV, will be co-produced and distributed by the Lumiere Group in Benelux.
Creators/co-writers of the high-concept series are crime writer/screenwriter and former financial crime investigator Jón Óttar Ólafsson, and Glassriver CEO Hordur Rúnarsson. The company’s co-founders –writer/director Baldvin Z and Andri Óttarsson are script supervisors.
“Polaris” is based on the compelling true story of one of the largest bank robberies in history, when Icelandic ‘banksters’ emptied British saving accounts of £1.8 billion ($2.3 billion) to reimburse Russian oligarchs and shabby businessmen whose assets were frozen when the financial crisis hit Iceland in 2008.

When the Nordic entertainment group, one of Scandinavia’s largest media groups, announced last month during the Goteborg Film Festival that it was pulling out of non-scripted content to focus on scripted drama, and film production and distribution, it underscored two market trends in the Nordics: Subscription-based services, whether local or global, are driving the region’s booming drama business, and going forward, the investment into content will be more evenly split between Scandinavia series and movies.
Since Scandinavia is one of the first overseas markets where Netflix and HBO Nordic launched as early as 2012, local streaming services such as Viaplay, CMore and Elisa Viihde reacted fast and stepped up their investment in drama in order to compete. It paid off: Today, unlike in other European regions where local Svod services have either shut down or struggled, the Nordics are home to several powerful local streaming services that are coexisting alongside Netflix and HBO Nordic.

Scandinavian major Nent Group has commissioned romantic drama “Harmonica” from Warner Bros. International Television Production Sweden.
The Swedish series has been co-created by Josephine Bornebusch, whose previous drama “Love Me” has performed strongly on Nent Group’s Viaplay streaming service in the Nordic region, and was recently renewed for a second season.
The six-episode “Harmonica” is co-written and co-directed by Bornebusch and Jonas Karlsson, who also star. They play country music duo Harmonica, who topped the charts in the 1990s, but whose life has been out of key ever since. In an effort to salvage their career and relationship, the couple embark on a tour of Europe that brings their problems to a crescendo but also offers them a chance to find harmony together.
