My personal comments: The camera production is amazing. There are times when the viewer sees through Mr. Jekyll's eyes. That makes the viewer experience Jekyll's point of view. It's the first American movie where I see that the viewer can look through a movie character's eyes. The movie starts with the viewer seeing how Dr. Jekyll plays his piano. Later the viewer experiences through jekyll's eyes how a woman is flirtig with him. The viewer feels like the lady is flirting with him. I think this technique drives the reader into the story and makes him feel like Jekyl or as in his place. It's emotionally more involving. At the end of the movie there is a place where the camera is moving backwards out through the window and it makes a backward circle that stops when pointed at an arriving Jeckyll. I remember that the movie All Quiet on the Western Front (1930) had a camera moving through the window but in a forward motion and it did not circle afterwards. I see that the camera movement opportunities have widened during 1930-1931.

Tke kid Dink and the Champ were the two main characters in this movie. The family drama gets the viewer emotionally engaged. The actor that plays Dink acts beyond amazing, the same as Wallace Beery.
