For us heathens that brandish figurative razor blade-endowed flat caps stateside as (un)official members of the Peaky Blinders crew, it’s been a particularly strenuous month or so. Season 4 of Steven Knight’s addictive gangster drama has been airing new episodes weekly in Europe since November 15th. Considering the manner in which season 3 concluded, international employees of Shelby Company Ltd have been suffering through their own form of detox, desperately resisting spoilers each passing Wednesday.
Thankfully, Netflix will provide the fix by releasing all six episodes of season 4 on December 21st. It’s a largely meaningless conciliation for enthusiasts, no doubt, as the entirety of season 4 will have already premiered overseas by that time, but I digress.
For those needing a refresher – in the waning moments of season 3, the Shelby family were celebrating their triumph over the Russians inside Tommy’s office while he distributed the spoils of the Blinders’ latest victory amongst them.

The sensational twist at the end of Peaky Blinders’ last series left writer Steven Knight with a problem: having blasted them apart, how could he reunite the Shelby family? They don’t need to forgive him to get back together, is Knight’s simple and smart answer. An unprecedented threat is what’s required to make the Shelby-Grays reunite. Enter: the New York mafia. In retaliation for the murder of Vicente Changretta last series, son Luca (Adrian Brody...

I wasn't really sure what to expect when meeting Elisabeth Moss for the first time in Cannes. We were about to spend the next three days together doing interviews, events, and dinners. Of course, I'd known of her since she starred as First Daughter Zoey Bartlet on The West Wing in the late '90s and early 2000s and wowed us all in Girl, Interrupted, holding her own with Winona Ryder and Angelina Jolie. And I had just binge-watched The Handmaid's Tale and started Top of the Lake. Neither of her characters on those two TV shows were people I thought I would want to hang with, but luckily for me, Irl Lizzie is much more carefree, relaxed, and hilarious. In fact, she was a pleasure from the first minute we met. Literally - within one minute of meeting, she and my awesome, fun husband, Brian, bonded over baseball stats,...

Dreaming of some warmer weather and laughs this holiday season? Writer and star Jason Segel’s 2008 hit comedy “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” may be worth a revisit. Not only does it feature hilarious comedic turns (most notably Jonah Hill riding high off of “Superbad” fame and Kristen Bell as the titular Sarah, proving she has more than small-screen chops after “Veronica Mars”), but it’s set in Hawaii! So pour yourself a piña colada this long weekend and laugh yourself silly. Below, Bell auditions alongside Segal with a cutting wit while still remaining sorrowful in admitting that she cheated on him with Russell Brand’s Aldous Snow. It eventually boils over into a lovers’ quarrel, and Bell navigates it all with ease. Check it out below. And if you’re feeling extra festive, you can also tune into Bell’s stellar voice work in “Frozen,” where she played Anna. Want to star in a feature comedy?...

It’s probably safe to say that the final handful of episodes of this past season of Supernatural left fans reeling and discussing what’s to come as they suffer through the summer hiatus. In many ways Season 11 felt like a spiritual sequel to Season 5, largely due to the return of characters such as Chuck/God and Lucifer. And for those wanting to revisit the season, on September 6 you can relive all 23 episodes on either Blu-Ray or DVD.
Below you will find the full press release featuring a detailed synopsis as well as a full rundown of featurettes and episodes to be included. Longtime collectors should be happy to see yet another gag reel incorporated. Whether or not Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles do “Blue Steel” remains to be seen.

Things get debauched in the penultimate episode of series 3 as Tommy and the boys make a visit to the Russians…
This review contains spoilers.
Peaky Blinders has always been a crossbreed. Part-drama, part music-video, it plays its record collection loudly and deliberately, at times coming off like a studiously cool dad when your mates are round, at other times the marriage of music and visuals stopping you dead.
After his death, David Bowie’s self-written epitaph Lazarus took on autobiographical significance. Its appearance here then, borrowed to tell the story of another man, should have felt jarring to a fan. That not only it didn’t, but felt as if the song had been written for Tommy Shelby shows what a rare union Peaky Blinders makes between music and story. It’s also testament to the modernity of these characters that Bowie can sing about cell phones...

With the recent Blu-ray release of Lightning Bug from Image Entertainment, I had a chance to talk with star Ashley Laurence and director Robert Hall. You may know Robert Hall from his effects work or Laid to Rest movies, but his first directorial effort was Lightning Bug in 2004 and it’s not what most people would have expected from him. During our interview time, I talked to him about going with a drama over an effects-heavy movie, revisiting the movie after all these years, and what projects he’s planning to direct in the future.
I know that Lightning Bug is a personal story for you and based on some of your past experiences. Can you tell me a bit about your time growing up in Alabama and how the story eventually evolved into Lightning Bug?
Robert Hall: I moved there when I was nine and I felt like a fish out of water.

Robert Hall’s Lightning Bug is now available on Blu-ray, and I had a chance to talk with Hellraiser‘s Ashley Laurence earlier today about her role in the movie. Continue reading to learn about her interest in taking on the part, her love of painting, and the issue some people have with her Geico commercial:
I just recently had a chance to watch the Blu-ray version of Lightning Bug and really enjoyed your performance in it. How did you first meet up with Robert Hall and why was Lightning Bug a movie you wanted to be involved in?
Ashley Laurence: I met Robert working on a horror film in Ireland, and we bonded creatively over some of the aspects in that film. We became friends and he told me he was writing a story that was semi-autobiographical. I was supportive of him and he wanted me to be a part of it.

Porn performers Jessica Drake and James Deen are hoping to raise awareness -- and possibly other things -- with a new political ad that protests a controversial condom-only porn measure on the ballot in Los Angeles.
Under Measure B adult film producers must obtain a health permit before filming and performers must use condoms while engaged in sex. It also calls for health officials to be on working sets.
Violators would be subject to fines and criminal charges.
The measure is arousing the ire of porn performers like Deen and Drake who have filmed a satirical public service announcement depicting future porn, wherein sex workers perform with safety goggles and protective headgear while getting down to business.
The climax of the porn film PSA is when Deen almost chokes on a dental dam.
Deen appreciates the importance of promoting safe sex, but he argues that the proposed measures could screw the industry financially.

Exclusive: There is a casting change on the NBC White House family comedy pilot 1600 Penn following the project’s table read yesterday. The role of the President’s eldest daughter Becca is being recast with Martha MacIsaac (Greek). Brittany Snow was originally tapped for the role. The producers opted to make a creative change with a younger and darker-looking Becca after the table read as the original character and Snow appeared not to mesh well with the rest of the family, including in physical resemblance with the other siblings. Coincidentally, MacIsaac also played a character named Becca in Superbad. Co-created by Josh Gad, Jason Winer and Jon Lovett and directed by Winer, 1600 Penn is a dysfunctional family comedy set at the White House, where the president’s (Bill Pullman) out-of-control oldest son (Gad) returns home and becomes not only the family’s biggest liability but also the glue holding everyone together.

With only a few leading roles under his belt, 27-year-old Jonah Hill has secured his place as one of young Hollywood's top funnymen by crafting characters who are crude, horny yet eerily relatable to most audiences.
His recent move to dramatic fare like “Moneyball” -- and his even more dramatic weight loss -- hasn't robbed him of his comedic talents (see "21 Jump Street" trailer); and with "The Sitter," we see Hill in his usual form. Yes, he shot it before losing the weight, but we mean his knack for being playfully offensive while also portraying a lovable guy next door.
In only six years, Hill has compiled an impressive number of funny moments on screen. Here we take a look at his top nine (warning: some videos are Nsfw).

The Web allows everyone's whim to be satisfied-and if you're into it, whatever it is, chances are you can find someone doing it online.

Russell Brand and Jonah Hill are a pretty good double act – shame their vehicle doesn't have legs. Meanwhile, it takes more than Danny DeVito to save a drab rom-com
I laughed a lot and aloud during Get Him to the Greek, a vulgar comedy about a music exec (Hill) charged with escorting a faded, drug-abusing rock star (Brand, reviving the character Aldous Snow from his breakthrough film Forgetting Sarah Marshall) from London to La's Greek theatre for a career-resurrecting concert. However, when I wasn't laughing, I was fantastically bored. The characterisation is thin and the plot – a nominal race against the clock – has no real tension. That said, Brand plays himself with egomaniacal charisma, while Hill (from Superbad) is growing into a decent comedian.

Apatow brand comedies aren’t as fresh as they were five years ago when The 40 Year Old Virgin was released. 2009’s Funny People was indulgent, excessively long and lacking in energy, and on the surface it seems that Get Him to the Greek is following the same basic premise, which sets the alarm bells of creative lethargy ringing. Jonah Hill’s put-upon low level record label employee and celebrity wrangler echoes Seth Rogan’s unassuming, downtrodden assistant, while Russell Brand’s past-it rocker ostensibly mirrors Adam Sandler’s burnt out, bitter comedian. The ‘dark’ tones of Funny People are also present in Get Him to the Greek, although neither could be classified as darkly comic. Instead there are a few introspective moments that touch very briefly on themes like addiction and love. However, these are brief and snappy rather than lingering and soppy, resulting in a pace that is...

The golden age of comedy — this new golden age, which will only be apparent years from now, when it’s over — continues with the release of “Get Him to the Greek,” which is so comically fertile and yet so grounded in the reality of its characters that it’s really a kind of Marvel.
There is a quick and simple litmus test to tell whether or not you’ll enjoy Get Him to the Greek. If you found Aldous Snow, Russell Brand’s caricature of a rock star, to be one of the funnier elements of Forgetting Sarah Marshall, then you will no doubt have a riot with the increased raunchiness his character once again brings to the screen for director Nicholas Stoller. If, for whatever reason, you find Brand’s larger-than-life presence to be as insufferable as the real rock stars he’s lampooning, chances are good his spin-off...

Get Him To The Greek
Directed by: Nicholas Stoller
Cast: Jonah Hill, Russell Brand, Sean Combs
Running Time: 1 hr 50 mins
Rating: R
Release Date: June 4, 2010
Plot: A young music intern (Hill) is given the assignment of chaperoning a self-destructive British rock-star (Brand) as they mosey towards a large concert event at L.A’s Greek Theater.
Who’S It For?: Those who love thinking about the couple of times they’ve seen Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
Expectations: With my supportive weight put on Jonah Hill more than Russell Brand, I was hoping this supposed wink-and-nudge to modern music would bring sharp laughs with bits of cutting pop culture parody.
Scorecard (0-10)
Actors:
Jonah Hill as Aaron Green: Compared to his rock-partner in shenanigans, he’s a square who has little idea of what he’s getting himself into. But like Brand, Hill plays a type of human being quite similar to previous characters,...

Jonah Hill in Get Him to the Greek
Photo: Universal Pictures The first time I noticed Jonah Hill was his role as the foul-mouthed friend in Superbad even though he'd had roles in such films as Evan Almighty, Click and I Heart Huckabees before that, and, of course, his small roles in Judd Apatow's The 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up. However, Superbad was three years ago and now Hill's built a solid resume of comedic roles and this summer even moves into more dramatic territory with Fox Searchlight's Cyrus and will follow that up with the straightforward drama Moneyball in 2011 for Capote director Bennett Miller and opposite Brad Pitt. This is all on top of a script he's co-writing for an adaptation of "21 Jump Street", which he will also star in. To say this 26-year-old has come a long way would be an understatement.

HollywoodNews.com: Looking back at the last few years, Jonah Hill has been busy: he’s played 12 different characters in just the three years since he starred in Superbad, written for an episode of Saturday Night Live (in which he appeared), and executive produced Sacha Baron Cohen’s Bruno. But on the eve of his second starring role in Get Him to the Greek – as well as his third, in the acclaimed independent dramedy Cyrus – Hill wants audiences to view him based on these performances rather than the ones which initially earned him the stardom he now enjoys. “

Jonah Hill struggled to focus on the first day of filming new comedy Get Him To The Greek after his co-star Sean 'Diddy' Combs insisted on showing the actor how to party like a superstar.
In the movie, a spin-off of Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Hill plays a record company intern who is assigned by his boss (Combs) to look after Russell Brand's wild rock star character Aldous Snow.
Rapper Combs decided to treat the Superbad star to a trip to Las Vegas on the eve of shooting - and the comedian admits he was left exhausted after a weekend in the life of the music mogul.
He says, "Diddy wanted to show me this (rock star) experience first hand before we started shooting, so we went to Vegas the weekend before we started shooting, and if you're gonna spend the next four months as the lead of a new movie, you should probably spend the three days before resting, instead of partying with Puff Daddy.
"It's very surreal, you have to pretend to be a lot cooler than you are, for me!"
But Hill was not quite prepared for some of Combs' odd antics.
He explains, "I brought some friends from college with me, and he brought some of his friends. We're in this nightclub, having this really genuine conversation and he'd suddenly stand up and pull out a microphone and say, 'Bad Boy' to the whole nightclub, in the middle of the conversation! So I was like, I guess we'll finish this later...!'"...

It's not hard to see why the makers of Russell Brand's new film were attracted to Robbie's story – it's more rock'n'roll than that of most rock bands
From the same stable as Knocked Up and Superbad, Get Him to the Greek is set to be one of this summer's box-office hits. The plot is simple: record company stiff Aaron Green (Jonah Hill) needs to get off-the-rails rock star Aldous Snow (Russell Brand) to La's Greek Theatre to play an anniversary gig. But Snow's status as newly single and newly off the wagon mean things take a turn for the unexpected. Perhaps the most surprising thing about the movie is Brand's character. A fizzing mix of British chirpiness, drug-dependent freak show, emotional baby and charismatic charmer, he's clearly based on ... Robbie Williams.
On the one hand, it's strange that Universal has based a film on the former Take That...

"Get Him to the Greek" reunites Jonah Hill and Russell Brand with 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' director Nicholas Stoller in the story of a record company intern with two days to drag an uncooperative rock legend to Hollywood for a comeback concert. The comedy is the latest film from producer Judd Apatow ('The 40-Year-Old Virgin,' 'Knocked Up,' 'Superbad').
Aaron Green (Hill) gets things done. The ambitious 23-year-old has exaggerated his way into a dream job just in time for a career-making assignment. His mission: Fly to London and escort a rock god to L.A.'s Greek Theatre for the first-stop on a $100-million tour. His warning: Turn your back on him at your own peril.
British rocker Aldous Snow (Brand) is both a brilliant musician and walking sex. Weary of yes men and piles of money, the former front man is searching for the meaning of life.

Analysis: A timely parable on war, or Hollywood propaganda filmmaking at its worst? Looking for a sequel to the hit summer comedy "Superbad"? Don’t expect to get one anytime soon. The genius producer behind the film, Judd Apatow, revealed as much when he sat down to talk shop with his fans on Funny or Die yesterday. While "Pineapple Express 2" looks like it may hit theaters at some point in the foreseeable future, "Superbad" won’t be getting a sequel.
(Editor's note: I would have embedded the video here, but Judd Apatow is a profane man and the words he uses are too much for members of our reading audience. I welcome you to track it down on the great ship Internets.)
“I can't get [Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg] to make the ‘Superbad’ sequel. I begged, but they don't want to ruin it. They think it's a gem of a movie and they don't want a crappy second," Judd said. He later stated, "There's...

Filthy-mouthed Jonah Hill might want to feast on a bar of soap or two if he plans on wooing the lady folk -- which is apparently next on his cinematic to-do list.
According to Variety, the "Get Him To The Greek" and "Superbad" star is producing and starring in "The Best Thing About Pam Rooney," a romantic comedy to be written and executive produced by Andrew Jay Cohen and Brendan O'Brien. Plot details remain under wraps, though the film is described as a "high-concept romantic comedy."
Cohen and O'Brien are both relatively untested when it comes to screenwriting -- their script "Moving In" is currently set up at Montecito Picture Co. and Paramount with Cohen as director -- but Variety nonetheless calls them out as alumni of Judd Apatow's "comedy factory." The pair co-produced "Funny People" and also worked on "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" and "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.
