Heath's performance as "The Joker" won an Academy Award and is one of the greatest performances in the history of film. I hate Superhero films, but I have watched this film 30 times. I was a close friend of Heath's and I am so pleased that he will always be remembered by lovers of film.

Another Terry Gilliam film. Heath is superb as Mat Damon's dreamer of a brother. If only Heath had lived to do a Woody Allen film!!!

5. Lords of Dogtown (2005)

Votes: 58,216 | Gross: $11.01M

Heath and this film did not get the credit they deserved. Heath was spot on! I remember this period of time and it's real life characters. I practically lived on my skateboard. The DVD is worth owning just for Heath's performance.

6. A Knight's Tale (2001)

Votes: 201,703 | Gross: $56.57M

Cute and just corny enough. Wonderfully uplifting film with a solid performance by Heat and some scene stealing from Paul Bettany and James Purefoy, as well as Shanyn Sossomon's painful beauty ;-)

7. I'm Not There (2007)

R | 135 min | Biography, Drama, Music

73 Metascore

Ruminations on the life of Bob Dylan, where six characters embody a different aspect of the musician's life and work.

Director: Todd Haynes | Stars: Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Heath Ledger, Ben Whishaw

Votes: 61,182 | Gross: $4.02M

Heath is not the star of this film. It has many stars. A very different and interesting film inspired by Bob Dylan. Good film and good acting. Cate Blanchet steals the film with a perfect imitation of Dylan!

8. The Order (2003)

R | 102 min | Horror, Mystery, Thriller

21 Metascore

Director: Brian Helgeland | Stars: Heath Ledger, Mark Addy, Shannyn Sossamon, Benno Fürmann

Votes: 18,469 | Gross: $7.66M

This film is much better than it's reviews! It is a decent horror film with the big bonus of having Heath as it's star.

9. Brokeback Mountain (2005)

R | 134 min | Drama, Romance

87 Metascore

Ennis and Jack are two shepherds who develop a sexual and emotional relationship. Their relationship becomes complicated when both of them get married to their respective girlfriends.

Director: Ang Lee | Stars: Jake Gyllenhaal, Heath Ledger, Michelle Williams, Randy Quaid

Votes: 382,168 | Gross: $83.04M

If I separate myself from the fact that this film was beyond boring, had no story worth relating and was truly sickening (I was waiting for Jake to marry a sheep).....Heath seemed to fall into the "I want to be a mumbling Brando/James Dean". Heath's talent did not lie in being silent. This is an adult only film and although I am not a homophobe, this film will upset many people. Even my gay friends thought this film was trash, made to get Oscar nominations. This film fails to tell any story. Heath was nominated for an Oscar, which is meaningless, and Michelle Williams (who was nothing short of dreadful) was also nominated and won (if memory serves).

10. Casanova (2005)

R | 112 min | Adventure, Comedy, Drama

57 Metascore

The fabled romantic Giacomo Casanova, after failing to win the affection of the Venetian woman Francesca Bruni, strives to discover the real meaning of love.

Director: Lasse Hallström | Stars: Heath Ledger, Sienna Miller, Jeremy Irons, Oliver Platt

Votes: 56,331 | Gross: $11.30M

Heath stars as the legendary lover. He should have left it to Errol Flynn "The adventures of Don Juan". Not a good film and Heath seems as if he is in another film entirely. Poorly written, acted and directed.
