I watched it in the fall of 2015 for the first time, not knowing what to expect. I heard some people praising it, also that it is one of scorcesse's favorite films. I had no Idea what effect that movie would have on me, while the first act was great, the second act didn't impress me as much, but the third changed my perception for filmmaking yet again forever (After Blader Runner), movie's like Coppola's "the godfather" suddenly look pale in comparison.

I watched it for the first time in 2008, after hearing about it over and over again I found a bad copy of it somewhere and while watching it I stopped it after I reached the midpoint realising how great it was and ordered the movie on HD-DVD, I spent the days waiting for it to arrive, imagining how it would end. When I saw it in all its glory, it immediatly became my favorite film for years to come. It was the first time I saw that the limits of a what a movie can do aren't reached yet. Mindblowing.

The best example I've seen of a entertaining cinema wich as a mainstream movie prooves that the sensless garbage of today dont have to be the standard. 7 samurai is packed with deep meaning and explores the problems of the human condition. After several viewings it keeps surprising me (reading or imagining meaning inbetween the lines) and still being simple enough for everyone to enjoy. It seems we are going backwards in movie culture, writing this 60+ years after its release, topping everything else in the mainstream realm even today.

Haunting, the more you look into it, the creepier it gets. Kubrick simply showing off, proving his understanding of film is on a level only few will ever be able to understand. Even now analysts come up with new theories about its hidden meanings, which are even more terryfing than the main story itself.
